Some would argue that you must be joking that it could taste like Non-Veg. I am very honest in saying that, since I have prepared this dish many times and it does not disappoint me in taste.
I personally like to experiment with different dishes sometimes the result is out of this world. We all want to have new dish everyday but it is time consuming and we always turn to usual options that we know. Ingredients:
- 4 Potato medium size
- 2 Onions medium size
- 2-3 tablespoons mustard oil (very important)
- 5 Garlic cloves
- 1 Bayleaf
- 2 red chilies whole
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 8 black peppercorns
- 1 stick of cinnamon
- 2 green cardamom
- 1 black cardamom
- 4 cloves
- 1 small piece of maze
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder or kashmiri lal mirch powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon salt or as per your taste
Instructions
- Cut the potatoes in 2 pieces if you want to get the actual feel of this dish.
- Cut the onions in julienne and if you would like you can grind the onions to create paste.
- Crush the garlic cloves so that it gives the aroma and then chop it thin.
- Heat the mustard oil in a pot and put bayleaf and red chili let it crackle little bit.
- Put cumin seeds, teaspoon cumin seeds, black peppercorns, stick of cinnamon, green cardamom, black cardamom, cloves, small piece of maze. Make sure you don't over saute it just enough to get the aroma.
- Now Put the julienne onions and garlic into the pot and saute till it changes the color and aroma comes out.
- Once the onions change color now put the spice powder (chili, turmeric, coriander) and salt in it and mix it well and let it simmer till it leaves the oil.
- you can mix little water if you think it will burn.
- Now you need put the Potatoes in the mixture and make sure it covers all the spices and saute the potatoes so that it changes color.
- Now put the water in the pot basically you need to put half glass of water as we don't want the gravy to be very runny.
- Cover the pot and let it simmer on a medium flame for about 20 minutes.
- Now turn off the gas and let it settle down and then you can serve the Korma in a serving bowl.
- You can enjoy this with paratha or rice as it works well with both of them.
