Homemade Kathal Aloo Ki Sabzi: A Hearty Jackfruit & Potato Delight

Ingredients


  • 1/2 kg Kathal (Jackfruit)
  • 2 medium size potatos
  • 2 medium size onions
  • 2 whole red chilies
  • 6 clove of garlic
  • 2 green cardamoms
  • 2 black cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 small piece of cinnamon
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 very small piece of mace


First you need to cut the Kathal in small piece or you can buy it.

Put your Kathal and potato in a pot pour water and turmeric powder and 1 teaspoon salt.

Let it boil and check with a fork if Kathal and potato boiled.

Drain all the water and make sure there is no dropping of water.

Heat 100 ml of mustard oil in pot and put 1 bay leaf julienne onion cut, 2 whole red chilies, 2 teaspoon cumin, 2 green cardamom, 2 black cardamom, small piece of mace (javitri), 1 teaspoon black pepper.

Fry the onions and make sure it is golden brown not more than.

when the onions are fried then take out everything and blend it mixer with 1/2 cup water.

once the paste is ready then keep it aside.

once the paste is ready then keep it aside. Now use the same to fry kathal and potato.

once they are fried then put 1 teaspoon garlic paste, 1 teaspoon 1 turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder or you use kashmiri lal mirch powder for color, 1 teaspoon coriander powder.

Now fry the masala on medium flame and when the oil is separated.

Now put the paste that you made in the blender into the pot and mix everything. Now mix the salt as per your preference.

let the paste simmer for 5 mins medium flame. Once the oil is separated from the paste. Turn off the gas.

Now your Kathal Aloo ki sabzi ready and you can serve it with rice or puri.
